STEPS Trek for Autism 2019

The Express Print & Mail team set a cracking pace at the 25km Steps Autism Treehouse Trek for Autism on Sunday 28 April 2019. Our graphic designer, Lindsay along with Candace and Lindsay’s son, Jack set out from Coolum Beach feeling fresh and in fine spirits.

Jack ran ahead and at one stage was coming first until his legs gave out on the bridge over the Maroochydore River (the 17km mark). He chose to walk the rest of the way to Alexandra Headland, finishing in a time of 3.5 hours.

Candace kept up a cracking pace, forcing Lindsay to dig deep at times just to keep up. Consequently, they crossed the finish line together in the first group of 50 in a time of just 4 hours!

They were all very tired, with sore feet and sore legs but proud to have pushed themselves for what turns out to be a half marathon (half!!!), supporting a worthy cause along the way.

A huge thanks to the event coordinators who did a magnificent job putting together a very professional event and cared for their charges the whole way.

STEPS Autism Treehouse builds community and connects Sunshine Coast families, children and young people living with autism. The organisation supports the community with access to resources, life skills programs, education and social events. The Trek for Autism is a major annual fundraising activity for the organisation.

Thank you to STEPS for your continuing contribution to improving the lives of people with autism.
